Sunday, May 10th

I did the lap this morning in 6:19. 2 seconds slower than last time. I didn't want to run this morning but I figure I'll have to do a lot of things I don't want to in order to get the body I want.

I am getting more and more interested in eating clean every day. My reasons: I feel sluggish and run down a lot, I want to lose some fat but build lean muscle, I plan on stopping my birth control pill next month and I am afraid I will get acne again, I want to sleep better, and I want to look fresh, not blah and bloated.

I just don't know if I can do it. Not because of temptation but because of inventing and preparing meals that I will actually like and be able to take on my 12 hour work days. I know there are recipe books out there and I know I can prepare a day ahead of time, it will just take a while before I get fully into it.

I have to research one question though, and if the answer is no, this whole eating clean thing might not be an option: Is low fat and non-fat dairy (mainly skim milk, low fat cottage cheese and non-fat plain yogurt) considered clean?

  1. I am no expert but for the last 4 months have been trying to eat cleaner... not completely clean but my livable version of it. I would definitely think milk, cottage cheese, and yogurt would be clean. I don't think they're overly processed and people have been enjoying those for hundreds of years. That's one of my mental tests when I'm unsure... would my grandmother or great-grandmother have access to this food? Perhaps Tosca would have a different opinion but we do need dairy in our diet.

  2. for the first few months of eating clean, i didn't eat dairy, however i have started to eat a little bit of greek yogurt and as far as ive noticed it hasn't hindered the AMAZING effects that clean eating has had on my life. If you can get through the first two weeks, you will never want to go back to any other way of eating. You will just feel amazing.

  3. Low-fat and non-fat dairy is considered clean, just in small amounts. I highly recommend the Eat Clean Diet Cookbook by Tosca Reno. I use it all the time, super simple and the food tastes amazing.

Ditto the greek yogurt -- it's great.

  4. Thanks for the feedback ladies. =)

Yes, I love plain Greek yogurt. One day I tried it with a little honey on top and it was really tasty. I think I'll check out that cookbook at the bookstore tomorrow.
